Public Services
The Public Services Department is responsible for the city’s infrastructure which includes reconstructing and maintaining streets, treating the city’s water supply, and maintaining the sewer system. Public Services maintains a fleet of construction equipment, trucks and city vehicles. The department employs 29 full-time employees and numerous seasonal employees that work within the following divisions.
Building Maintenance Division
Building Maintenance is responsible for the maintenance and repair of all city owned buildings. They provide construction administration and design for a variety of building repair and rehabilitation projects throughout the year.

ADA Transition Plan
As a provider of public transportation services and programs, the City of Anoka must comply with this section of the Act as it specifically applies to public service agencies. As required by Title II of ADA, 28 CFR. Part 35 Sec. 35.105 and Sec. 35.150, the City of Anoka has conducted a self-evaluation of its facilities within public rights of way and has developed this Transition Plan detailing how the organization will ensure that all of those facilities are accessible to all individuals.

Engineering
This division provides support services to guide the design, management, maintenance and construction of the City’s infrastructure including engineering design, construction supervision and project management for the various street, sidewalk, water main, sanitary sewer and storm sewer infrastructure projects that the City undertakes each year.

Parks and Recreation
The Parks and Recreation division provides a wide range of services including park maintenance, recreational opportunities, and management of Forest Hill and Oakwood cemeteries. This division is also responsible for the programming offered the Anoka Senior Center and operation of the Anoka Aquatic Center.

Streets and Storm Water
The Streets and Storm Water division maintains 66 miles of streets, 25 miles sidewalks, hundreds of storm water catch basins, boulevard trees and thousands of street signs.

Trees, Weeds & Landscape
This section includes important information that all citizens need to know about trees. Information includes invasive species and well known tree pests like the Emerald Ash Borer and best management practices which include removal, treatment, and home owner vs city responsibility. Citizens can also find resources regarding planting guides, native species selection, and "Bee Friendly Community" resources.

Water and Sanitary Sewer
This division operates the municipal water and sanitary sewer systems. City water is provided through an extensive system of wells, water towers, pumping facilities and iron/manganese removal treatment plans to ensure that the water in the City is safe. Waste water flows through pipes under the streets which convey it to a metropolitan treatment plant.
